Educational Support Systems


Vermont Schools are required to develop a means to consistently support student when it is apparent that they are not meeting classroom and school expectations. This answers the fundamental question, How do we respond when students are not learning nor behaving to school standards? These systems of support range from in class instruction (universal supports) to individualized education programs for special needs students (intensive supports). Many of the supports involve strategies such as a Multi-level System of Support (MTSS), the use of Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS), Content Coaches, Instructional Technologies, Direct Instruction, and other research-based strategies.
